June 2010 around the farm...

'like father, like son.'

I have a real cute little quarter horse that I show in the Wisconsin Foundation QH series; there are 4 shows in all. Today was a good day, double judged and I had fun. My horse is 12, so I show in aged geldings (yep, love the oldies but goodies) so I took him in halter and got a 1st and 2nd with much surprise, then did two riding classes. Now, the foundation shows have 'ranch riding' which is what I like to call the cowboy version of western pleasure. I went in Sr horse ranch riding - the amateur, and in the open class, there were at least 14 in the class and I got a first under one judge, and sixth by the other...Weird. Then back in for am. and got 2 firsts!!!! I giggle, I gave my gelding a mock bath
(too cold!) of his mane/tail and legs, pulled him from the pasture... he's not been to a show in 2 yrs!! I even got payback in the open class - paid for my day of showing. :)
Oh yea, that's my new Dale Chavez saddle I bought myself, to bribe me to get out and show again.

Here is Kaleb's kitty, K-do Cat.....

Jimmy
and Kaleb head out to check their honey bees. Kaleb will tell you,
"....thinking BEE"!!
Last year Jimmy was able to harvest
50 lbs of honey - it was his first year to harvest honey, and we were so
excited, and surprised, that two hives could produce that much.
Needless
to say we are eager to see what the hives will produce for us this year.
