I love taking a POA that has been sadly outgrown, or lost of interest, and bringing it home, to work with. Once I've logged the hours in the saddle, and had the chance to make the POA "mother approved," my mission is in full swing, of finding a perfect family for the pony. I just bought this mare from Conifer Quarter Horses last Sept., (they owned this mare and also own the stud she's in foal to for May '08...Ty, son of Macs Good N Plenty).
I'm very excited about what this mare will hopefully produce for us, for she is my first proven producer to come home with us. I know it sounds so small in the realm of breeding, but for me she's the type of mare I wish I had 10 of! Ideal disposition with me and in the herd. Super mom, for she lets all the foals in the pasture nurse and I've yet to see her pin an ear at anyone or anything. Lovely, lovely mare.
Her foal that has the AQHA points and IF money earned, acquired this in Novice Youth (uncertain of the actual class points). That is her first foal raised - born in 2000, a mare named Chex Sweet Cheeks, sired by The Big Chex.
Conifer Quarter Horses, owned by Brian and Kim Brandriet, are two of the nicest people I have met in the industry today. They have a world champ in their barn and made me feel like I have the same thing in my barn. They are eager to see the foal out of this cross.
TWO CUTIE JACK
Two Cutie Jack, or "Lucy" as we call her, is my little "cow hand" of the broodmares.
She was born, and raised, at the Sun Up Ranch in Brainerd MN, and I purchased her from the Kettlewell's, another amazing family I was so fortunate to meet, in my little horse life. Lucy is a consistent producer, and gives us foals with BIG hips, solid bone, good movement, and super dispositions. She is just one of those mares that out produces herself, time after time.
With my goal of trying to raise really good western pleasure prospects, Lucy is a nice cross, with the pleasure bred sires. The blend is fabulous, and the foals are showing us they are prime candidates, for western riding.
